Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the AGM Scissor Jack HD cost more than a standard scissor jack?

Because it is not built for the same job.

Most standard scissor jacks are designed for occasional emergency use on pavement. The AGM Scissor Jack HD is built for heavier vehicles, rougher conditions, and more demanding real-world use.

You are not just paying for a jack. You are getting a purpose-built lifting system with a 7,000 lb. load rating, heavy-duty construction, planetary drive design that reduces the force you have to apply, large rectangular flat base pad designed to provide more surface area for heavier vehicles, VersaLift compatibility, a serviceable design, Lifetime Shield warranty coverage, real human customer support, product education, and after-sale support from a company with more than 2 decade of industry experience.

A cheaper jack may cost less up front. The better question is whether you would trust it when the vehicle is heavy, the ground is uneven, and the repair cannot wait.

What am I actually getting besides the jack?

In addition to a Drill Hex adapter, hand crank, 2 different lift head and a carry bag - You are getting the AGM ownership experience, not just a product in a box.

That includes real human customer support, product overviews, how-to videos, tutorials, after-sale support, fast turnaround times, and the knowledge that comes from years of building equipment for off-road, racing, automotive, and rescue applications.

Our goal is not to sell you a jack and disappear. Our goal is to help you choose the right equipment, understand how to use it, and feel more prepared when you actually need it.

What is Lifetime Shield?

Lifetime Shield is AGM’s lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

If your product has a covered defect, we will help make it right according to the terms of the warranty. We build AGM products to be used, maintained, and supported — not treated as disposable gear.

What vehicles is the Scissor Jack HD designed for?

The Scissor Jack HD is designed for trucks, SUVs, overland vehicles, trailers, campers, and other heavier vehicles that need more lifting capacity than a standard lightweight jack.

As with any jack, the correct fit depends on your vehicle weight, lift points, suspension setup, tire size, and intended use.

Will the Scissor Jack HD work with my vehicle?

In many cases, yes — but the right answer depends on your specific vehicle and setup.

Before purchasing, consider your vehicle weight, ground clearance, tire size, lift points, suspension travel, and how much height you need to safely complete the job. If you are unsure, contact AGM and we can help you decide whether the Scissor Jack HD is the right fit.

How much weight can the Scissor Jack HD lift?

The AGM Scissor Jack HD is rated for 7,000 lb.

That does not mean it is intended to lift an entire 7,000 lb vehicle at once. When changing a tire or lifting from a proper lift point, you are typically lifting one portion of the vehicle. Always confirm that your setup, lift point, and vehicle conditions are appropriate before lifting.

How much lift travel does it have?

The Scissor Jack HD has 13.8 inches of lift travel.

Before purchasing, make sure that is enough travel for your vehicle, especially if you have larger tires, long-travel suspension, lifted suspension, or a trailer/camper setup with unique lift requirements.

Can I use the Scissor Jack HD to change a tire?

Yes, when used with the correct lift point and proper setup, the Scissor Jack HD can be used for tire changes and other vehicle service needs.

Always confirm that the lift height, vehicle weight, lift point, and ground conditions are appropriate before lifting.

Is the Scissor Jack HD safe to use off-road?

The Scissor Jack HD is designed to give you a more controlled lifting option in rougher environments, but every jack requires proper setup and safe use.

Always lift from a suitable lift point, keep the base stable, avoid side-loading the jack, keep the jack as vertical as possible, lift on flat/stable ground and never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack.

Will this work on uneven ground?

The Scissor Jack HD is designed to perform better in rough conditions than typical pavement-focused jacks.

That said, ground conditions still matter. Always choose the most stable surface available, clear loose debris when possible, keep the jack properly positioned, and do not lift if the setup feels unstable.

What makes this different from a bottle jack?

Bottle jacks can be useful, but they often struggle with limited lift point access, uneven terrain, and awkward vehicle positions.

The Scissor Jack HD offers a wider mechanical lifting platform, controlled travel, and VersaLift compatibility, giving you more options when the vehicle, terrain, or lift point is not ideal.

What makes this different from a farm jack or hi-lift style jack?

Farm jacks have their place and can be quite useful, but they can be awkward, unstable, and easy to misuse if the setup is not right.

The Scissor Jack HD is built for controlled vertical lifting with a compact footprint, a stable base, and a lifting head designed around real vehicle contact points.

Can I use an impact or drill to operate it?

Yes. Not only can use a drill to operate the Scissor Jack HD, but it comes with a drill Hex adapter to encourage you to use a drill.

It also comes with a hand crank, should your drill battery die on the trail.

Because of the planetary drive design, we do NOT recommend using an Impact Gun though. The shock loads of an impact gun will prematurely wear the gears inside the planetary drive.

Do I still need jack stands?

Yes, anytime you are working under a vehicle, you should use appropriate support equipment.

A jack is designed to lift. It should not be treated as the only support when working underneath a vehicle.

Is this jack serviceable?

Yes. One of the advantages of AGM jack products is that they are built to be maintained instead of treated as throwaway equipment.

Proper inspection, cleaning, and lubrication help extend product life and keep the jack operating smoothly.

How does AGM help me use the product correctly?

We create product overviews, how-to videos, tutorials, and vehicle-specific lift guidance to help customers use AGM products with more confidence.

The right equipment matters, but so does knowing how to use it. That is why education is part of the AGM product experience.

What kind of support does AGM provide after the sale?

You get support from real people who understand the products and the industries they are built for.

If you have a question about setup, use, compatibility, maintenance, replacement parts, or whether the product is right for your vehicle, you can reach out to AGM and get help from someone who is actually familiar with the equipment.

What if I buy it and realize it is not the right fit?

Reach out to AGM.

We can help confirm whether the Scissor Jack HD is the right tool for your vehicle and intended use, or help point you toward a better setup if another AGM product is a better match.

Worked really well!

Worked really well! Changed out all four tires the day after I received it. I really like the ability to use an impact drill instead of doing it manually. Great product.

Just The Tool I Was Looking For

I've only used the Scissor Jack HD once so far as a trial run lifting a rear corner of my F250. It performed great. So easy to pull the drill trigger and be done. It's very solid and not too heavy to move around.

Next, I will lift each tire of my camper up one at a time to do maintenance. So convenient.

I am very happy with my purchase.

so i see it says no impacts in the description of the scissor jack but is that more of a recommendation or a no go and if it is no then why can’t you use an impact?

AGMProducts

Peyton, this is a really good question. We say no impact on the Scissor Jack HD because it uses a planetary gear reduction. Through much testing we have found these gear boxes love continuous loads, like those provided by a drill and hate shock loads, like those provided by an Impact. The jack may technically work with an impact, but the internal components fight each other during use. The result is it dramatically reduces the life of the jack and its effectiveness. Not only do we want the jack to work for you, but we want it to work for a very long time for you. So, that is why we say NO impacts. Don't want to leave you hanging though, so here is a bit of inside info - if you have a smaller vehicle like an F-150, Jeep or Bronco there is good news we are working on a version for those vehicles that will be impact rated. Look for that to launch in the 4th quarter.
